Safety at night - Hosur doesn't have a night life whatsoever.  The town usually shuts down at 10 pm. So there's no point in going out at night. Even if you wanna go, it'll be alright.

Theft - The rate of theft is as common as it is in any part of Tamilnadu. Maybe even lesser.

Drugs and prostitution - LOL. Been in this town for a good 25+ years. I haven't seen any such stuff happen in a large scale. Of course, There are some shady areas where such stuff happen and you can choose to stay away from those places.

Scams by north indians - Most north Indians here work as contract labors in manufacturing / hospitality sectors. Haven't heard much on scams being pulled by them. 

There absolutely no need to worry.

I have lived in many cities and towns after my college. I feel hosur is one of the best places to grow.

Yes. You are right. High crime rate in terms of theft (bikes), prostitution in outer ring road and near railway station is pretty common, just a bike ride at night will show you that. About drugs, it should be common as Hosur is ganja hotspot. North Indian scams I haven’t heard of it

One of the most Polluted area in hosur,. 
No transport connectivity, only one over crowded mini bus. Ola and uber wont come, theres no swiggy or Zomato. Auto walas are there but too much cost.

There are few theft cases but i havent faced any while i was there.

I travelled throughout India and ate at random street stall, cautiously eating so street dogs and cows wont lick my plate. But Bathalapalli hotels are something else. All of food poison happened to me, happened due to bathalapalli hotels. (Im from tamilnadu - if this fact helps)

Old bus stand road has few road social workers (getting horny indians out of jail)

Night life. Lol. Hosur is called twin city of bangalore. But forgot about night life over there. Maybe near new bus stand shops will be open at night times other than that Hosur is a complete rural town. Spend 2 and half years in bathalapalli that to during covid. Hosur is not worth it. 

But there are posh areas in Hosur. But bathallapalli is not one of them. I hate that damn place to the core, only other place i hate more is Sri City - Tada.( which genius named that as City)

Don't forget the harsh weather and pollution. Also can't blame the city, it's bound to face such hurdles when being pushed for high intensity industrial growth. The closest city to Bangalore and our government wants to use this to develop an economic zone within TN. But stereotypes are there for a reason, everyone I met from hosur makes me think maybe there's something wrong there.

This is a very good q. All govts tried, Madurai trichy coimbatore. Companies r still not buying into it. Eg trichy has had an IT park near airport for 15 years now, they have few callcenters and nothing else. 
What india did with SEZ all over the place in 90s and 00s including Noida is not something govts r willing to do anymore.
Companies find it very hard to transfer people to smaller towns as well. Some one who is in mid level would have an apartment / kids going to schools in a city.

What govt must do imo is utilize this wfh model to sink money into high speed internet and rentable office spaces in smaller towns and make that the norm.

Regarding hosur. Lot of companies r waiting to see if they need these massive office space post Covid. If not then there is no advantage for hosur. People would just go back to their native place.

Yeah TN govt. should promote IT instead of industries in Hosur. There are lot of other districts that could accommodate industries. Climate is one of the words that is uttered when Chennai vs Bengaluru debate happens. Hosur could be the solution for that.  The other words that come up are nightlife and dating. I don't think any of our districts could offer a solution to that.

1. Lack of single window clearances like in Gujarat
2. Lagging middle-tier bureaucracy 
3. Problems that arose in Vedanta sterlite copper plant, since semiconductor is a geopolitically relevant strategic industry, the risk of protest and shutting down of factories are high.
4. Vandalism incident at Samsung plant in Tamilnadu
5. Year-round water availability and natural disasters like floods and cyclones
6. compliance and corruption issues (people dont realise the extent of normalisation of corruption in Tamilnadu. People have become so used to it that we dont even see it as a problem anymore and that is a big issue)

How many of you know that semiconductor fabrication is extremely water and energy intensive?? Also semiconductor fabrication requires various hazardous chemicals, so disposal of those wastes needs to be highly proper. 

From my point it is good that they did not come because, even if the company wants to come amid all these protest, the amount of bribe these government politicians would ask will atleast be 40% of the investment, ultimately making the company go to other places anyway.

My dad told me that in the 80s when the HBJ pipeline for gas was built from Mumbai the recipients were almost all of northern states but none to south. In spite of all this preferential treatment and huge national resources being deployed for nearly a century why does the north lag behind?

States like Odisha, Jharkhand and MP are almost always neglected when it comes to big ticket projects. I am glad UP and Assam are getting some investment but Gujarat is overkill at this point.

The amount of water that is required for semiconductor manufacturing is insane. We don't have that. We should focus on getting the vlsi design and product companies - they make more money than the manufacturers any day.

And about BJP, well, buddy, whether you like it or not, that's just how politics works. I'm sure if instead of BJP it was DMK at the center, they would do the exact same thing but for Tamil Nadu. BJP's main voter base is in the North, so obviously they will do this kind of thing.

Then again it's not as if all industries were stopped from going south. But they did this for Semiconductor fabs because they can showcase this as their achievement more easily than, say, a Mobile manufacturing unit or a textile factory.
